Diana Bolotin MD, PhD, discusses why doctors should refer patients to the University of Chicago Medicine for Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer treatment.
DIANA BOLOTIN: We see patients from all over the area for Mohs surgery, also for their skin cancer treatment, as well as just general dermatology. The biggest advantage to our institution is, again, that everything is in one place. So if a Mohs surgery becomes much larger than expected, or if the patient requires help from other specialties, whether it be head and neck surgery for lymph nodes or plastic surgery for a large closure, or even medical oncology, or radiation oncology for further treatment of the more advanced skin cancer, these are all in one location. And we're able to collaborate, communicate, and provide the best patient care. For patients from the community, this is a huge advantage, because they can get their routine treatments and routine care from their same primary doctor, but come here for specialty care and all in one place.
