The University of Chicago Medicine, with a history dating back to 1927, is a not-for-profit academic medical center based on the campus of the University of Chicago in Hyde Park. It comprises the University of Chicago Medical Center, Pritzker School of Medicine and the Biological Sciences Division. Its main campus is home to more than 25 buildings dedicated to patient care, research and teaching. UChicago Medicine also has created a regional network of care through its ambulatory facilities in Orland Park and the South Loop; clinics in downtown Chicago, North Side and Northern Indiana; and the October 2016 merger with Ingalls Health System (with facilities in Harvey, Flossmoor, South Holland, Tinley Park, Calumet City and Crestwood); and affiliations and partnerships. UChicago Medicine offers a full range of specialty-care services for adults and children through more than 40 institutes and centers including an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Together with Ingalls, it has 1,289 licensed beds, about 1,300 attending physicians, more than 3,225 nurses and more than 1,100 residents and fellows.
