Joel Pekow, MD

Instructor of Medicine

Pekow

Joel Pekow, MD, specializes in the treatment of digestive disorders, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colon cancer screening.

Through his clinical and basic research, Dr. Pekow investigates mechanisms of colon cancer development in patients with IBD. He is interested in using novel molecular methods to provide significant insights into why cancers develop in this population. He hopes this knowledge will lead to the development of new markers for precancerous lesions, and ultimately to cancer prevention in IBD patients.
