Roggin

Associate Professor of Surgery

A board-certified general surgeon and surgical oncologist, Kevin Roggin, MD, specializes in the surgical treatment of complex upper gastrointestinal tract cancers (stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, colorectal, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), retroperitoneal sarcomas, and bile duct/cholangiocarcinoma).

Dr. Roggin serves as program director of the General Surgery Residency and associate program director of the Surgical Oncology Fellowship. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Training Committee and as the Councilor-at-Large on the Executive Council of the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Roggin is a co-Principle Investigator for the Chicago Pancreatic Cancer Initiative in Genome-Guided Medicine, which aims to foster a unique integration between genomics, computation and the clinical care of patients with pancreatic cancer. This projects aims to:

  1. Develop biomarkers and clinical variable to predict response to therapy and toxicity risk;
  2. Rapid assessment of patient and pancreatic cancer genomes to search to 'druggable' target genes.
