As a board-certified pediatric critical care specialist, Diana Mitchell, MD, treats critically ill children and teens in the pediatric intensive critical care unit (PICU). Along with her clinical work, Dr. Mitchell is also interested in medical education of pediatric residents and fellows. She investigates the use of simulation-based training in medical education with the goal of improving pediatric critical care. Having pioneered the pediatric resident and critical care fellow simulation courses, Dr. Mitchell is a devoted educator. She is the course director for interdisciplinary simulation-based training for fellows, residents and nurses. Additionally, Dr. Mitchell is the founder of the PICU simulation task force and PALS education director for the University of Chicago Center for Simulation. Dr. Mitchell is the Fellowship Program Director and Core Faculty for the Pediatric residency program, and she regularly participates in lectures on numerous critical care topics for both residents and fellows.
